Washington, Oregon and California

Capitals: Olympia, Washington

Capitals: Salem, Oregon

Capitals: Sacramento, California

Extras: State and Capital Handouts

Did you notice the QR code on the handouts above? Students can follow that QR code and watch as I write each state and capital in print and in cursive. I used a mouse to  write the state names and capitals, so be warned: some of them are a bit rough.
It's great, though, because your students will feel extraordinarily accomplished--their work will far surpass mine in neatness. A+! You can purchase all of the handouts here.

If you do not need flashcards or handouts, perhaps you will consider donating to Ruby's Rescues to reward us for our hard work? It's $5--about the cost of a fancy coffee at Starbucks. And every dollar will be used to help injured, sick or orphaned wildlife. It's a win-win! Just click here. Yay! Thank you!

Use more of your brain to learn geography

Here is a bit of backstory and an overview of how the method works. The states were orginally divided up by humans, and the lines sometimes seem meaningful, while other times they seem rather arbitrary. With my method, it does not matter because we will engage MORE of your brain in the process of learning. Multiple modalities means helping the information get into your long-term memory through overlapping of input sources. We will see vivid images, move our bodies in meaningful ways, and use rhyme and music to cement the states into long-term memory forever.

LET'S REVIEW

Here is hoping the method worked for you.
