Here is a bit of backstory and an overview of how the method works. The states were orginally divided up by humans, and the lines sometimes seem meaningful, while other times they seem rather arbitrary. With my method, it does not matter because we will engage MORE of your brain in the process of learning. Multiple modalities means helping the information get into your long-term memory through overlapping of input sources. We will see vivid images, move our bodies in meaningful ways, and use rhyme and music to cement the states into long-term memory forever.
Here is hoping the method worked for you. Review and determine which states you still need to study!

I struggled with geography so much when I was young. As a result, I started creating this project as a way to teach myself and to share the method with my students at the university. I love the idea of having projects you can just drop in to your existing curriculum. The videos are self-paced, and the assessments are ready to go. My videos on YouTube had a quarter of a million views back in the day! Now I have no idea how far and wide they are being watched. Last I checked, it was in like 25 different countries! One teenager once commented that my video was genius. ::laugh:: Not in a million years did I expect to get that response from a young person. Woo-hoo!
Something magical happens in your brain when you watch as I drag and drop the capitals into their respective spots on the map. It's as if your mind is practicing right along with me. When you finish the project, you should be able to identify the location of each state AND name the capitals. You can also watch the videos on my page to learn how to write the names of states and capitals, either in print or in cursive. I'm determined to bring cursive writing back into vogue! It's a truly gorgeous art.
I have learned over the years how critical assessment is in the process of learning. Viewers get opportunities to test their memory as they move through the videos. And having a list of which states/capitals are not sticking helps students spend their study time more wisely. And this also gives me feedback on which aspects of the project might still need a little work. I am always improving my craft.
